About Us

Baldwin Hills Fastpitch Softball (BHFS is a 501c non-profit established in 2010 to provide opportunities for girls aged 5-18 to learn and play the game of softball. We have a “teaching vs. winning” core philosophy where skill development and confidence building is emphasized over game results. We believe by teaching the fundamentals and increasing softball acumen and providing cost effective game play against similar competition will provide game results. We teach our players to be competitive as opposed to asking them to win.

If you are returning to the league, we thank you for choosing Baldwin Hills Fastpitch Softball again, and for helping to keep our program as strong as ever. If you are new to our program, we welcome you to a small but unique family focused softball league that serves the Baldwin Hills and surrounding communities. We strive to be parent driven with operating procedures designed for parent input and participation.

BHFS is part of the USA Softball Association. This is a sanctioning body that also provides athletes to the USA Olympic Team. We have two House League softball seasons, in the spring and fall. This league plays 10 to 15 games (home site is Baldwin Hills Recreation Center) and visiting sites are in the Los Angeles – South Bay areas. Our league participates in USA All-Stars, State tournaments and a Fall Turkey tournament. We also participate in independent tournaments and “friendlies” throughout the season.

All players who register will be invited to free pre-season training clinics. Team practices during the season are determined by the Coaches. This program consists of new and experience players. You do not need any softball skills to participate, just a desire to learn.

Baldwin Hills Fastpitch Softball is a separate and distinct entity from the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks – Dodgers Dream Team and GPLA programs. However, we will continue to support and participate in these programs at Baldwin Hills Recreation Center as part of our community outreach programs.
